Ecstasy/MDMA can come in tablet form, but also can be a white powder or crystals. Ecstasy tablets are often called ‘E’, Eccies, XTC, or Pills, they are also often referred to by the name of the logos they have on them such as Mitsibushi, Rolex or Mastercard. MDMA powder or crystals can be known as Mandy, Molly, Madman.

Ecstasy (MDMA)
This can make people feel chatty, lively, energetic, want to dance.  It can also make people feel like they are in love with or in tune with everyone around them.

Ecstasy (MDMA) can increase heart rate and body temperature which can lead to;

• dehydration
• over heating
• exhaustion
• raised temperature

Using ecstasy and dancing etc may make you really thirsty. It is important to drink small sips of water regularly, not large quantities at once.

Ecstasy is a Class A drug.

PMA

PMA is similar to MDMA (the chemical in ecstasy). It can make people feel alert, alive and full of energy. PMA is sometimes sold as ecstasy and a lot of the street names for PMA are actually street names for ecstasy pills. It is not possible to tell the difference between the two just by looking at them.

PMA makes sounds and colours more intense and will make people feel energetic, with feelings of being in tune with other people as well as ‘loved up’ , similar to ecstasy.

PMA increases body temperature, heart rate and blood pressure. It can also make people feel sick and have muscle spasms.

PMA can a take a while to take effect, longer than ecstasy or MDMA. This is risky as people may be tempted to take more thinking that it isn’t working and they are using too much increasing the risk of overdosing. It is also dangerous if taken with alcohol

PMA is a Class A drug.
